Dr Scott Bolland has spent the last 20 years actively researching and teaching in the field of Cognitive Science – the scientific study of the mind, that spans such disciplines as psychology, philosophy, neuroscience and computational science. He holds a PhD in the area, as well as a University Medal for outstanding scholarship, finishing in the top 1% of students at the University of Queensland in his studies. His special interest is the field of positive psychology - the scientific study of human flourishing.
Scott has led a varied career, most recently working as a corporate educator in the Graduate School of Business at QUT, working with individuals and corporations in areas such as personal leadership and change, organisational behaviour, and high-performance teams. As a performer, he has been actively treading the boards of the Brisbane Musical Theatre scene for over 20 years, most recently starring in the Qld premiere of the Scarlet Pimpernel, and winning the Qld Vocal Competition (thrice). |
Bernadette Alizart is vocalist and co-founder and Director of Bassline: a Brisbane-based corporate events and entertainment band, music tuition and recording studio. In a rare skill mix, Bernadette is also a high-level corporate communications, crisis communications and speechwriting specialist having worked for several Queensland Premiers and leading organisations.
Bernadette performs regularly in Brisbane and the Gold and Sunshine Coasts, teaches singing and drama, and lectures in political and organisational speechwriting. As well, Bernadette has played several leading roles in musical theatre including Judy Garland in the Boy from Oz, Mother Abbess in the Sound of Music, and Heidi in the Australian premiere of the offbeat [title of show] – yes that’s the title of the show. |
Bradley McCaw is an Australian performer, composer, playwright, actor and singer/songwriter. He has worked onstage playing lead roles in countless musicals and toured the world with International singing group ‘The Ten Tenors,’ which included an internationally televised performance at the 2004 AFL Grand Final.
Recently, he was the winner of the 2012 International Cabaret Showcase with his new one-man show, Cabaret: The Complete Unauthorised Biography, which premiered at the 2013 Adelaide Cabaret Festival, followed by performances at the Noosa Long Weekend Festival, Ballarat, Brisbane and Melbourne Cabaret Festivals and on "42nd street" as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival. He also performed at the Adelaide, Melbourne & Ballarat Cabaret Festival Gala Event's alongside International artists Adam Guettel, Molly Ringwald, Mary Wilson, Barb Jungr and Kate Cebrano to name a few. Recently the show performed to a sold out season at the Brisbane Powerhouse 2014 'Wonderland Festival’. |
Dr Jessica O’Bryan, is a crossover singer with many years of experience both in teaching and in performance. She performs at corporate events, with jazz and rock bands, and has worked as a Principal Artist with Victorian Opera and Opera Queensland.
She holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Performance and a Graduate Diploma of Education from Melbourne University, and a Master of Music Degree from Monash University. She recently completed her PhD investigating tertiary classical singing teaching at the University of Queensland. Jessica teaches Singing in the Bachelor of Musical Theatre program at the Queensland Conservatorium and is First Year Head of that cohort. She gives lectures on Research Methods and Vocal Health, takes First Year tutorial groups in music history and is employed as a Research Assistant on a number of research projects at Griffith University. She is in demand as a vocal adjudicator at Eisteddfodau around Queensland. |
Steve Timms is classically trained guitarist and drummer having studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. He is also co-founder and Director of Bassline Music Studios. He teaches all styles of guitar – acoustic, electric and bass - and drums.
Steve has performed Australia-wide and internationally with artists such as the hugely popular Ten Tenors and to audiences of more than 15,000 in the US and Asia, and at thousands of events in a career spanning more than twenty years. Steve is well known for bringing an intensity and excitement to his playing with searing guitar lines and the kind of driving rhythms that make your toes involuntarily tap. His passion for live work is mirrored only in his passion for teaching, making him one of the most in-demand teachers in Queensland. |
